If you are considering self employment, you are probably familiar with the clichés of those who have gone down this road before you: the ability to work in your fuzzy slippers, the notion that you will be able to seek off your kids to the school bus each morning and be there to pick them up again, and of course the fact that you will no longer have to commute and be stuck in traffic for hours on end. While these all sound like great incentives to take advantage from your ability to become self employed, remember that in addition to the many professional and monetary advantages, there are also a large number of personal advantages.

For example, consider the fact that your sense of self worth will suddenly skyrocket. After all, you have managed to let go of the safety net that is represented by corporate employment, and you have trusted in your innate ability to do a good job with your knowledge and skills to such an extent that you will be able to survive without a third party to pay your way. No longer bound to an employer for your life’s earnings and your family’s financial wellbeing, you are now the master of your own destiny. This is quite possibly the ultimate rush with respect to self fulfillment, and it is easy to see that it ranks quite high with folks who are experiencing this freedom for the very first time.

Of course, there is more to life than simply being the master of your own destiny; one such item is the fulfillment you will realize when you suddenly notice that it is your personal genius and creativity that are making your success happen. No longer are your successes dictated by the marketing campaigns of others, but instead it is your very own marketing effort that is putting you on the map and causing potential customers and clients to contact you in order to do business. Sure, a lot of time and effort probably went into your marketing campaign, but consider the significant pride you will be able to take in achieving success not only with your product or service, but also with the very marketing innovation that put you on the map!

As you can see, the personal fulfillment that you will be able to achieve simply by being self employed is staggering. It is hard to put into words and it must be experienced to be believed. The reward received because you very own personal creativity is priced, and the personal fulfillments you will receive because of it almost make it worth your while to have worked hard countless hours. There is nothing quite like it and you will know when the feeling suddenly hits you – it is an experience second to none!

For many folks a home based internet business is a dream and are willing to do whatever it takes to make it a reality. Being able to find something you enjoy doing and turn it into an occupation that allows you to work from home is something many people are looking to do. You should know that in order to make any home business a success will take time and effort to see it grow.

First, you will need a business that you enjoy working, as you will need to spend a lot of time organizing it and working little details. Regardless of the type of home based internet business you plan to operate, getting its name out in front of potential customers will the most important aspect of running your business.

Many people believe that simply designing a great website offering a good mix of merchandise or great services will allow them to be a success. Wrong. It does not matter how great a website you build nor how wonderful your products and prices are. If no one knows about your site, it is the same as not having one.

However, you can do many things to get your business noticed, especially through other online businesses. Placing flyers on public bulletin boards or having small, inexpensive advertising items printed up to hand out to prospective customers. You can offer advice columns to your local newspaper on topics related to your area of expertise, with your name and business name listed in exchange for payment of your information.

Small town newspapers offer the best opportunity to have your advice column published as they often accept freebies to help supply pertinent information for their readers. Additionally, if some event is approaching in which your expertise can be utilized, volunteer to provide services free of charge in exchange for having your name used. For example, printing a program for a high school play can probably be done for under $100, but if there are 1,000 handed out with the line that states the programs are provided by, followed by your name, you get your name in front of the parents along with free positive publicity.

A t-shirt with your company name and web address printed on it can probably be had for under $10 and wearing it in public puts the message out there that a new business is in town.

Work At Home Jobs Require Skill And Dedication

So, you want to stay home and work. Understand there is a difference between working at home and working from home, and by working at home all your work will be completed while you sit in your home office, just feet away from your television set, your car and all the household chores that need to get done.

When you first think you want to work at home, there are a couple of things you need to be honest about with yourself. First, you will have to decide if you a marketable skill than can be used to work at home. Many companies may have positions open for which you can telecommute, or work at home, but most people who do work at home operate their own business.

Whether you own your own business or telecommute for someone else, the second thing required is the self-discipline needed to make it work. While the dress code may be very relaxed and the hours on the job may be extremely flexible, the work will still need to get done and on time. When you accept an assignment you are making a promise to get the job done by a specific deadline. It will take self-discipline to make that happen.

Too many times those working at home will take just a few minutes to handle personal or home tasks such as cleaning the house, washing dishes or doing to laundry, just to name a few. These are things that could not be done if you were working away from the house and should not be done if you work at home. If you are running your own business out of your house, then it is probably true that if you do not work you do not get paid. No client is going to pay you to finish your laundry, so you better get back to work.

One of the biggest opportunities you will find in working from home is interruptions. Typically, family and friends see you at home and presume you have all the free time in the world. The family expecting you to run errands or friends dropping in unannounced can be distractions to you and slow down your progress on any project.

Some people keep a calendar for required time off so if family plans are made, the person who works at home knows to plan their schedule around that day and that function. This allows for a work-life balance and can help your family understand how you work at home.

You may find the need to be blunt with other friends and family members who just drop in, explaining to them that although you are at home, you are working and are not able to drop everything to visit with them. True friends will understand and respect your need for less distractions in order to complete your work on time.

If that person can add another distributor of the product or service, he makes a percentage of that person’s sales and you now pick up more money as well. You will be making money on the sales of two people, even if you never sold another thing on you own.

Depending on the multilevel marketing program you are a part of, there may be a limit to the number of folks in your downline from whom you earn a commission for adding those distributors, and when you reach that goal only their sales can impact your income stream positively or negatively. When you believe you have reached the peak of income potential, while still receiving the commissions, you can begin looking into other programs to generate another income stream. In that regards there is virtually no limit to the number of streams that bring cash flowing into your bank account.

The bottom line is that you and everyone else needs to understand, that being a work at home mom is not the same as being a stay at home mom. You are in fact running a business and need to treat it as such.

More and more people are starting to shop and conduct business on the internet. I personally pay the majority of my bills each month online and this past Christmas, almost all of my shopping was done online. Practically every website that I visited will accept credit cards online, meaning that my purchases would be delivered right to my front door. What more could I ask for? I didn’t have to fight the mall traffic or stand in line for entirely too long just to pay for my purchases. There’s something rather appealing about sitting at home, in my pajamas, doing my shopping. I know quite a few people who did the exact same thing.

When companies have a website, if they accept credit cards online, their business will certainly grow. In fact, it has become incredibly outdated for companies to not accept credit cards online. Gone are the days that people want to wait to send a check in the mail and have to wait another week to receive their purchase. When a customer pays with their credit card, it is processed and paid for immediately and the item can be shipped just as promptly. Not only is it convenient, but it is quick. Of course, there is always the possibility that modern day hackers who enjoy being a nuisance can interfere. When you make the decision for your business to accept credit cards online, you are deciding to increase your sales and establish convenience, but you need to take some steps to ensure that your website is secure to the best of your ability. Be sure to consult a professional when preparing to set up your security.

There are many companies out there that can help you get started in setting up your website to accept credit cards online. They have packages to offer you, and offer assistance. Make sure that whoever you choose is not only reputable but you are completely comfortable dealing with them. How To Write An Ebook

The hardest part of writing is the first sentence.
When you look at the whole project, it seems like an
impossible task. That's why you have to break it down
into manageable tasks. Think of climbing a mountain.
You are standing at the foot of it and looking up at
its summit vanishing into the clouds. How can you
possibly scale such an immense and dangerous mountain?

There is only one way to climb a mountain: step by
step.

Now think of writing your ebook in the same light. You
must create it step by step, and one day, you will
take that last step and find yourself standing on the
summit with your head in the clouds.

The first thing you have to do, as if you actually
were a mountain climber, is to get organized. Instead
of climbing gear, however, you must organize your
thoughts. There are some steps you should take before
you begin. Once you've gone through the following
list, you will be ready to actually begin writing your
ebook.

Beginning Steps to Writing an ebook

First, figure out your ebook's working title. Jot down
a few different titles, and eventually, you'll find
that one that will grow on you. Titles help you to
focus your writing on your topic; they guide you in
anticipating and answering your reader's queries. Many
non-fiction books also have subtitles. Aim for clarity
in your titles, but cleverness always helps to sell
books ? as long as it's not too cute. For example,
Remedies for Insomnia: twenty different ways to count
sheep. Or: Get off that couch: fifteen exercise plans
to whip you into shape.

Next, write out a thesis statement. Your thesis is a
sentence or two stating exactly what problem you are
addressing and how your book will solve that problem.
All chapters spring forth from your thesis statement.
Once you've got your thesis statement fine-tuned,
you've built your foundation. From that foundation,
your book will grow, chapter by chapter.

Your thesis will keep you focused while you write your
ebook. Remember: all chapters must support your thesis
statement. If they don't, they don't belong in your
book. For example, your thesis statement could read:
We've all experienced insomnia at times in our lives,
but there are twenty proven techniques and methods to
give you back a good night's sleep.

Once you have your thesis, before you start to write,
make sure there is a good reason to write your book.
Ask yourself some questions:

* Does your book present useful information and is
that information currently relevant?

* Will your book positively affect the lives of your
readers?

* Is your book dynamic and will it keep the reader's
attention?

* Does your book answer questions that are meaningful
and significant?

If you can answer yes to these questions, you can feel
confident about the potential of your ebook.

Another important step is to figure out who your
target audience is. It is this group of people you
will be writing to, and this group will dictate many
elements of your book, such as style, tone, diction,
and even length. Figure out the age range of your
readers, their general gender, what they are most
interested in, and even the socio-economic group they
primarily come from. Are they people who read fashion
magazines or book reviews? Do they write letters in
longhand or spend hours every day online. The more you
can pin down your target audience, the easier it will
be to write your book for them.

Next, make a list of the reasons you are writing your
ebook. Do you want to promote your business? Do you
want to bring quality traffic to your website? Do you
want to enhance your reputation?

Then write down your goals in terms of publishing. Do
you want to sell it as a product on your website, or
do you want to offer it as a free gift for filling out
a survey or for ordering a product? Do you want to use
the chapters to create an e-course, or use your ebook
to attract affiliates around the world? The more you
know upfront, the easier the actual writing will be.

Decide on the format of your chapters. In non-fiction,
keep the format from chapter to chapter fairly
consistent. Perhaps you plan to use an introduction to
your chapter topic, and then divide it into four
subhead topics. Or you may plan to divide it into five
parts, each one beginning with a relevant anecdote.

How to make your ebook "user friendly"
You must figure out how to keep your writing engaging.
Often anecdotes, testimonials, little stories, photos,
graphs, advice, and tips will keep the reader turning
the pages. Sidebars are useful for quick, accessible
information, and they break up the density of the
page.

Write with a casual, conversational tone rather than a
formal tone such as textbook diction. Reader's respond
to the feeling that you are having a conversation with
them. Break up the length and structure of your
sentences so you don't hypnotize your readers into
sleep. Sentences that are all the same length and
structure tend to be a good aid for insomnia!

Good writing takes practice. It takes lots and lots of
practice. Make a schedule to write at least a page a
day. Read books and magazines about the process of
writing, and jot down tips that jump out at you. The
art of writing is a lifetime process; the more you
write (and read), the better your writing will become.
The better your writing becomes, the bigger your sales
figures.

In an ebook that is read on the screen, be aware that
you must give your reader's eye a break. You can do
this by utilizing white space. In art classes, white
space is usually referred to as "negative space."
Reader's eyes need to rest in the cool white oasises
you create on your page. If your page is too dense,
your reader will quit out of it as soon as their eyes
begin to tear.

Make use of lists, both bulleted and numbered. This
makes your information easy to absorb, and gives the
reader a mental break from dissecting your paragraphs
one after the other.

Finally, decide on an easy-to-read design. Find a font
that's easy on the eyes, and stick to that font
family. Using dozens of fonts will only tire your
readers out before they've gotten past your
introduction. Use at least one and a half line
spacing, and text large enough to be read easily on
the screen, but small enough so that the whole page
can be seen on a computer screen. You will have to
experiment with this to find the right combination.

Of course, don't forget to run a spell and grammar
check. You are judged by something as minor as correct
punctuation, so don't mess up a great book by tossing
out semicolons randomly, or stringing sentences
together with commas. (By the way, that's called a
"comma splice.")

Last of all, create an index and a bibliography.
That's it! You've written a book! Now all you have to
do is publish your ebook online, and wait for download
request from your website visitors.

The basics of setting a goal is an open secret known by top-caliber athletes, successful businessmen and businesswomen and all types of achievers in all the different fields. The basics of setting goals give you short-term and long-term motivation and focus. They help you set focus on the acquisition of required knowledge and help you to plan and organize your resources and your time so that you can get the best out of your life.

Setting clearly defined short term and long term goals will enable you to measure your progress and achieve personal satisfaction once you have successfully met your goals. Charting your progress will also enable you to actually see the stages of completion leading to the actual realization of your goals. This eliminates the feeling of a long and pointless grind towards achieving your goal. Your self-confidence and level of competence will also improve as you will be more aware of your capabilities as you complete or achieve your goals.

The basics of goal settings will involve deciding what you really want to do with your personal life and what short term and long term goals you need to achieve it. Then you have to break down goals into the smaller and manageable targets that you must complete in your way to achieving your lifetime targets. Once you have your list waste no time in tackling your goals.

A good way to have a manageable list is to have a daily and weekly set of goals. By doing this you will be always in the position of going towards you life plan goals. Everyday will give you the opportunity to fulfill a certain goal giving you the feeling of accomplishment.

Here are some pointers that should be taken into consideration in setting goals and achieving them.

Attitude plays a very big role in setting and achieving your goals. You must ask yourself if any part of you or your mind holding you back towards completing your simplest goals? If there are any part of your behavior that is being a hindrance or puts your plans into disarray? If you do have problems in these areas then the immediate thing to do is to address this problem. Solutions may include a visit to a doctor or psychiatrist to control your emotions.

Careers are made by good time management practice. Failing in a career is often attributed to bad time management. Careers require a lot from an individual which often makes the career the life of the individual. Plan how far do you want to go into your career.

Education is key in achieving your goals. If your goals require you to have a certain kind of degree or require a certain specialization or demand a certain skill to be developed, make plans in getting the appropriate education.

Your family should never be left out of your plans. If you are just starting out then you have to decide if you want to be a parent or when you want to be a parent. You also have to know if you really would be a good parent and how well would you relate to extended family members

Physically gifted individuals may be able to achieve sports related goals like being in the National Basketball association or National Football League. Determining your physical capabilities should be one of your priorities. Physical limitations could however be conquered with proper planning.

As the saying goes -'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy', or something to that effect, is by all means true down to the last the letter. Giving yourself a little pleasure: should be included into your plans.

To start achieving your lifetime goals, set a quarter of a century plan, then break it down to 5 year plans then break it down again to 1 year plans, then 6 month plans then monthly plans, then weekly, then daily.

Then create a things-to-do list for the day.

It might be wise to price items there as well as in places like Best Buy or even a department store. This gives you more options for getting a good price on the stuff you want. They may also have software that you can’t find in other stores.

You can get large amounts of shipping materials at a lower price, and you can find things you can’t find in Wal-Mart. Steven Covey, author of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” made a big splash with this self help book, perhaps due to his savvy analysis of shared principles and characteristics of people who were truly effective in their lives. His analysis of these 7 habits of highly effective people boiled down to just seven characteristics, which gives hope to us all! Let's take a brief look at what he found.

The first on his list of 7 habits of highly effective people is to 'be proactive'. This habit was given first place because he found that all people were essentially proactive or reactive. Proactive people accepted the consequences of their own actions and realized that we always have choices. Reactive people tended to believe things just “happened” and their choices made no difference. Before progress can be made on the other six habits, the reactive person must make the switch to a proactive frame of reference.

The second of the 7 habits of highly effective people is to 'begin with the end in mind'. This means identifying your dreams, the end goal. You must define what will be fulfilling to you,whether in career choices or family life. Many successful careers ultimately prove unfulfilling, offer no true personal satisfaction, simply because the person failed to identify the end goal.

The third habit of the 7 habits of highly effective people builds on the second habit. Until you've identified your goals, Covey maintains you will not be able to distinguish what is important or unimportant to your end goal. The third habit is 'first things first'. This habit deals with effective prioritizing and time management.

Fourth is 'think win-win or no deal'. This is a revolutionary concept when you realize that in any dispute, there are solutions that will truly benefit both parties, without compromise and with both satisfied with the resolution.

Fifth in the 7 habits of highly effective people is 'seek first to understand' which is a profound observation. When two people talk, their goal is usually to be understood by the other person. A more fruitful strategy is to try first to understand the other person. When the other person sees you do want to understand his position, doors magically open to real understanding.

Sixth, we have 'Synergize'. This is a creative brainstorming technique to find 'win-win' solutions. Using the technique results in creative solutions better than any individual participant might have thought.

'Sharpening the Saw', the last of the 7 habits of highly effective people, addresses four dimensions of humanity which must be exercised: body, mind and spirit, and – added by Covey – the interpersonal. Regular physical exercise, enrichment of your knowledge and spiritual contemplation or meditative practice are also necessary habits to be a highly effective person.

I was fortunate to come across this book as well as many others, in my journey to financial independance. This book was one of the many "TOOLS" that I've used to achieve the success of my businesses and my personal life. In fact I keep a small version of the book consisting of just the 7 Habits, on my desk, in my Home Office.

These 7 habits are a model for improved relations with other people, successful outcomes and personal satisfaction. We might all benefit from the lessons in this book.

When Ellen Moorman wanted to list her home for sale, she started on the Internet, where, of course, she found scores of home pages for Chicago-area real estate agents.

She wasn't impressed.

'I didn't see any Web site that was worth lingering on,' she said.

Then she stumbled across Fran Bailey's blog, an almost-daily online journal of her observations about the Chicago real estate market.

'I saw all she had to say, and I said, `This is great. This lady is upfront,'' Moorman said.

So Moorman chose Bailey to list her Northwest Side home, and the sale closed Friday.

Weblogs, or blogs, as they have come to be known, have exploded, with 175,000 debuting each day, according to Technorati, which tracks the phenomenon. They are still a comparative rarity in the real estate business, though blogging proponents say the industry is starting to get it.

Last month at a national symposium on real estate technology in New York, panelists said, panelists said the industry was on the cusp of a blogging revolution.

In 2007, they said, real estate bloggers would at last depart from the tried-and-true formula of offering just home listings and common-sense home-sale advice and instead swing toward personalization to cultivate an image of authority and trustworthiness. "
